A Summary

Long, long ago, the lands of Moeras, Woestern, and Elderidge thrived, each embodying its own grandeur and technological prowess. Moeras was an industrial hub, its ports bustling with production and trade. Woestern was home to sprawling urban cities, vibrant and pulsating with life. Elderidge, an island far removed from prying eyes, housed enigmatic contraptions and a machine meant for the facilitation of interdimensional travel, once a marvel of technological achievement.
However, the heights of their advancements were marred by many social and technological shortcomings that brought on unforeseen consequences. Their societal structure unraveled due to inequality that worsened more and more over time. Technological accidents unfolded, culminating in a catastrophic event that plunged these civilizations into a desolate wasteland. Moeras turned into an industrial graveyard, Woestern's urban sprawl lay abandoned, and Elderidge, once home to this civilization's most epic technological endeavor, now harbored mere remnants of its past glory, veiled in mystery.
In the midst of this haunting aftermath, Kohenor awoke one day on the shores of Elderidge with no recollection of his past. While he made a life for himself there, he found it to be an incredibly lonely existence– his only contact with the outside realms at first was his mentor, Arakaio, who would arrive and depart suddenly and inexplicably. Arakaio's spectral presence left Koh perpetually yearning for guidance and answers that never came.

Eventually, after enduring agonizing lonesomeness for a number of years, Kohenor started to experience a strange phenomenon. Without warning, he was propelled into inexplicable travels that traversed space and dimensions. He would find himself thrust into unfamiliar realms. At first this was quite disconcerting, but he soon decided that he preferred this manner of existence over his lonely, mundane life on Elderidge. He became especially attached to one realm that he visited often– Shukumei. Not only was every aspect of that realm infused with an inspiring magic, but he also found quite a few friends there. He felt welcome; it felt like home. Yet each time he was forcibly pulled back to Elderidge, he was reminded that he couldn't have such a home so long as he was chained to the island.
Changed by the love he had found in Shukumei, he became determined to investigate the cause of his travels. While exploring Elderidge in search of answers, he discovered the remnants of a massive, complex machine. It was not uncommon for Koh to find technological remnants on the island; they were scattered about everywhere! But none were as impressive and collossal as this one. Lacking the knowledge to understand what he was looking at, this discovery only led him to feel more helpless. It seemed that he was destined to be at the mercy of this capricious machine. At times, the machine seemed to work in tandem with his thoughts and emotions, aligning with his innermost intentions and desires. It even brought him visitors from time to time (is that how you arrived here?). However, it was also unpredictable and chaotic, always defying his attempts to understand it or to truly control it.
As the years passed, Koh's fervent desire to repair the contraption waned, giving way to resignation. He now attempts to coexist with its unpredictability, surrendering all hope of unraveling its mysteries and fixing its erratic behavior.

Xayam- One night close to midnight, when walking along the shores of Elderidge, I unexpectedly found myself in a completely unfamiliar territory. At the time I couldn't explain how or why this occurred, and since I woke up back in Elderidge I thought it was an anomaly, or a dream. However, when it occurred for a second time, I knew I was not hallucinating in any way, though I was still quite discombobulated. This is when I happened across this strange lady. She informed me that the place I had arrived in is called 'Shukumei'. This meant nothing to meat that time. Xayam (or Aya, she says she likes to be called) introduced me to a few interesting places in Shukumei, as well as a strange edible substance she calls 'marshmallows'. Being a courteous guest, I was compelled to taste the foreign food. It... wasn't so bad. Sticky, I would call it. Very sticky. I quickly learned not to dread the random nights when I suddenly appear in Shukumei. I feel fortunate to have met Aya, for she is endearing, and has an optimistic warmth that radiates from her core.

Fiiluna {pet has been removed from past owner}, or Luna as she likes to be called, is, besides my old mentor, the lupe who I have told the most about myself. She showed up on my island unexpectedly (as most do) in the early hours of morning. I do not know much about her past just yet, but we have discussed many things. I know we must have a few things in common, simply because we have grown up with strange technologies. My experience with technology has been with my island, and I have a feeling it has just as much magic as it does electronics. Hers is her own body. It was incredible, learning about how her body works as some sort of machine. I still don't fully understand, but I intend to learn more. She has been kind enough to accompany me in exploring Elderige more, but with a cause. After I told her about my theory that the island works with me- even for me- she proposed we try to find out more about what makes the island work. We ended up finding a giant device of some sort.. and this was the last I saw of her, to be honest. I had to apologize and leave her so that I could find Arakaio.

Arakaio, is a puzzling figure, a blend of experience and unpredictability. He's like a book missing chapters, leaving gaps in what I know. There's a sense of strength about him, like he's seen it all... yet he disappears like a ghost more often than not. He's my mentor, yeah, but one who doesn't stick around for explanations. His comings and goings leave me perplexed; ruminating on what on earth is going on with him and with this world. There's a quiet authority about him, an air that commands respect even if I don't get what he's up to most of the time. And let's face it... I'm so often desperate for answers and guidance, and I feel he holds a key that I'm seeking. Yet every time he shows up, I seem to be left with more questions than answers. Now it has been many years since I have seen or talked to him.

Rhist, my long lost love. I have not seen or heard from her in years, and my heart is utterly broken because of it. I encountered her for the first time during one of my fleeting visits to the lands of Shukumei. She caught me just before I ingested a poisonous mushroom. Rhist actually posesses profound knowlege about fungi; she is quite passionate about mushrooms of all different types. Her intellect and her uncanny ability to discern emotions intrigued me. I started to arrive in the lands of Shukumei more and more, as if my soul pulled me there. As if the confounded contraption on this forsaken island was responding to my desires for once. Our bond deepened swiftly, and we confessed our love for one another. However, our affection was besieged by the unpredictability of my intermittent teleportations. The uncontrollable shifts between dimensions strained our relationship. My travels became more erratic, and then when I finally arrived back in Shukumei after a long, depressing time away... she was nowhere to be found. Her absense now lingers, leaving a miserable ache within.

I met Obskur after suddenly being teleported into an urban setting. This is when I learned that I am not only changing locations, but also dimensions. The night I met Kur, I found myself in a humanoid body. I stumbled into a local establishment and Kur took me under his wing. We bonded over beverages while lamenting over our long lost loves. I do hope I will see him again, it is nice to talk to someone who understands the emptiness within me these days. The loss. The grief. It is refreshing to be able to wallow in it without wallowing, and to numb it with magical refreshments that seem to reduce the torment for awhile.
My Story

Journal
Kohenor nudges an old, tattered journal.
I used to keep this diary of sorts," He mutters gruffly, "I didn't write much, but even this small reminder of what could have been is quite painful for me to read now. I'm not sure why I keep it. You can read it, I suppose."
February 3rd, many years ago
I began my journal. Nothing much to say here. I've been feeling more empty than usual lately; I have no idea why. There seems to be a void inside my chest that refuses to be filled. However, I have discovered I can temporarily replace this monsterous hole with others' feelings. I have to be careful, though, because I would really rather shield myself from those with negative emotions. It's easier, I think... they are dreadful for me to be around, considering their pain torments me more than it could anyone else. I suppose, on the bright side, I am extremely empathetic..?

I have run into an old friend, Arakaio. No telling how this will turn out, considering last time I saw him he abandoned me. Apparently the old man has his 'own problems' to sort out. Seems he wants to reunite. Part of me is desperate to drill him for answers, the other part of me wants nothing to do with him.

Awhile earlier, I happened upon a female lupe who had.. I don't know how to put it.. "crash landed" on my island. They always seem so disoriented... Anyway, this lady, Miss Luna, has an adventurous personality. I have enjoyed the time spent with her, and she has brought about my own curious streak by questioning me about the island. We have set off up the mountain to find out more about the technological mysteries of my ancient home. All of the talking about this place has made my mind go off on some strange track, and I am baffled by what it has brought up. I think, maybe, Elderige, the island I have known since birth, my home and my prison, works for me. Well, with me? It sounds absolutely nutty, I know, but I have gone back over and over this and it has started to make a smidgen of sense. When I was very young, I would frequently find myself trapped in depressing thoughts of abandonment, lonesomeness, and imprisonment. Almost every time, I was snapped out of those thoughts just before they drove me mad by some sort of natural or "technological" disaster. Then, recently, when the pressing feeling of imprisonment began to take over my thoughts, I found a mysterious, unpredictable portal to another world.. a magical forest in the lands of Shukumei, a place I had neither visited nor heard of in all of my years. Throughout the years I have had times when I have felt almost unbearably lonely, and the island has responded by magically bringing others to my world. I always found this to be a simple inexplicable coincidence, or fluke, but now that I look at everything at once, it all seems to link together. My island is really, truly, my island. Somehow it is linked to me. Now, more than ever, I wish to find out more. Sadly, my relations with Arakaio have ended badly, and I will have to set out on my own to reveal all of the island's mysteries.

So much has happened since the last time I wrote here. Luna and I located a strange contrapton that I think may have something to do with how and why characters (including myself) appear and disappear on the island. I excused myself from her and called Arakaio to my island.. his island before me, really. To my amazement, it worked, and now Arakaio and I are working on figuring out what this contraption is. My plan is to lead him to it and question his knowledge, since he was here before the fall of technology.
Just before all of this happened (my memory gets a little mixed.. it seems the island has the ability to mess with time as well as location).. I was sent to Shukumei once again. This time I knew where I was, so I was a bit less disoriented. Before long, I became curious, and started sniffing at some plants that I now know to call mushrooms. A bubbly lupe caught me right before I ate one, telling me they were poisonous. She introduced herself as Rhist. The time I have spent with her has been devastatingly magical. I have not known love before.. and I did not recognize it at first. But Rhist has an ability (sort of like mine) where she can see the emotions of others by looking into their eyes. She read the unfamiliar feeling inside me and matched it to her own, and then recognized it as love. Once she said that word- love- I knew at once it was true. She is spectacular. When I am close to her (literally, close.. I cannot be more than a foot from her), my thoughts don't turn negative. All of my worries wash away, and I am left with a feeling of calm happiness. It's incredible, really. I have never been able to feel without thinking about it, but she gives me that ability. When I am around her I can actually FEEL. And my thoughts are shut off. Not in a bad way-- not so much that I am unaware or unintelligent.. just so that I am not sitting around thinking about every small problem or puzzle. It's more than I could have ever asked for. However, my habit of poofing back and forth from Shukumei to Elderige at random proves to be hard on a relationship...
A Love Lost

A bright beam of sunlight found its way through the thick canopy of the forest and penetrated Kohenor's eyelids. Begrudgingly, he released the last few tendrils of sleep that he had been clinging onto. As consciousness took hold, he realized that he was once again waking in the forest just beyond the beach of Elderidge. A temperate breeze curled through the vines and branches, slipping through his fur and making him shiver despite the warm climate. Shaking himself off and getting to his feet to stretch, he tried to get ahead of his thoughts-- tried to force his mind to remain as empty as the void inside his chest.
As he meandered down the path to the spring, memories began to echo through his head. A vision of Rhist floated into his awareness, slicing through the void in his heart like a knife. The pain was so intense and so sharp that he stopped in his tracks, hissing with a quick intake of breath. He stood completely still, without even a breath, as he worked to pull a mental blanket of darkness over those memories. Yet as he tugged at that comforting emptiness, a melody flowed through along with it. The slicing pain eased, and he continued down the path to the spring.
Damp, spongey soil transitioned into large rounded stones, and the sound of water tumbling over rock filled Koh's ears. This audible intrusion caused him to realize that he had been humming along with the haunting melody for quite awhile. His mind had remained mercifully blank, but that melody... where had he heard it before? He dipped his head to take a long drink of the cool, fresh water. Lost in reverie, he didn't take notice of the raven until it let out a dramatic "CAW," which startled Koh so thoughoughly he inhaled his last sip of water, causing him to cough and sputter as he looked wildly about.

Finding nothing out of the ordinary in his surroundings other than the individual crow sitting atop a branch of a tall Ceiba tree, he collected himself and glared at the crow. What on earth was a crow doing here, in Elderidge, near the beach? Had that wild contraption dragged this lone crow here? What for? What was it up to now? Just as quickly as the crow announced its presence, it took off into the air with an unexpected raucous of flapping wings.
Puzzled and a bit disoriented from the unnerving way in which his morning had unfolded, Kohenor turned back toward the path that would take him to his favored spot. As he took the first few steps down the path, however, the melody wove back through his mind. It twisted and curved and pulled. He stopped. Then he felt the tug again, as if he had invisible strings connected to him, pulling him back toward the Ceiba tree. Resisting the pull wasn't an option-- it felt as though these invisible strings were sewn through each and every vital part of his being. Fate sealed, he turned and prowled toward the tree. Nerves had him glancing anxiously around the forest as he followed the pull toward the base of the tree, but once he was a few paces away, his attention was called to a small item that shined, or perhaps glowed, on the ground near the roots of the tree. Curiously, Kohenor approached the object. It was a mushroom. Not an organic, live one, but a carved wooden amanita mushroom pendant with a leather strap.

At the sight of the mushroom, Kohenor's mind shifted once again to Rhist. Memories of love and joy and deep, intense pain flooded into his mind and pierced his chest. The melody that had haunted him all morning continued to weave through his thoughts; his memories. It acted as a lullaby, calming the chaotic tides of his mind and pulling him back to the present; coaxing him to dip his nose into the earth in order to lift the leather string up off the ground and over his head. Rhist... He thought her name sadly, and it echoed throughout the hollow cavity where his heart once felt full. Though this relic was an agonizing reminder of the love he had lost, it also brought him an odd sense of comfort. This object, delivered by such a mysterious messenger, felt like a sign from beyond; a symbolic acknowlegement of the existence of that time in Koh's life. It was not just a dream, she was not just a dream, we were not just a dream. I may be trapped in a nightmare, but at least I experienced such intense good for a brief moment in time. Kohenor thought to himself as he began walking back to his usual beach spot, the pendant bouncing against the tufts of fur on his chest and the melody walzing through his mind.

My World

The Forgotten Lands of Verloren
Kohenor does not recall any of his memories from childhood. His mental records begin in young adulthood, waking up day after day on the island of Elderidge. One day, when exploring the remains a shipwreck on the north shore, Kohenor came across an old, tattered map. That is how he discovered that there was once so much more to this world than the one island he was chained to. His mentor, Arakaio, confirmed the existence of Moeras and Woestern, and was able to share more about those territories.
Verloren was once a symbol of vitality, wealth, and innovation. Unfortunately, the society's leading classes became so obsessed with 'progress' at whatever cost that they destroyed their lands and ushered in societal strife and eventual collapse. Hopeless and enraged, mobs of citizens coordinated to sabotage and destroy the technological endeavors and investments of the elite. No one could have forseen the catastrophic fallout of such measures. These events led to the downfall and complete obliteration of this once thriving civilization. The effects of severe environmental exploitation, the evidence of careless industrial practices, and the broken technological artifacts that are scattered across the lands are the only remnants of the once prosperous society.
The three major provinces are:
Elderidge

Elderidge was once a serene and isolated island that was home to lush forests and serene coastlines, and that served as a discreet location for an interdimensional travel machine initiated by one of Verloren's big tech giants. The island was inhabited mostly by employees of the company, and was heavily guarded by security personnel whose sole mission was to keep the machine's purpose and function a well-guarded secret.
Post-collapse, Elderidge retained its natural beauty, but the fallout from the explosion that occured after citizens vandalized the machine affects the island's tranquility. The contraption now bears the scars of malfunction, emitting occasional distortions in reality. The island holds remnants of a lost civilization and the technology they used, which are now distorted by damage and malfunction. The contraption occasionally creates ripples in reality, causing sporadic disturbances. It seems to be intrinsically linked to Kohenor somehow, but it is unknown why this is. Perhaps he is the only survivor of the incident? Or perhaps he was simply pulled to the island from another realm; another dimension; another life far far away.
Moeras
Moeras was an industrial powerhouse, dominated by factories, production facilities, and ports. Its landscape was marred by heavy industry, with sprawling manufacturing complexes, refineries, and extensive shipping facilities. The land suffered from environmental degradation due to extensive industrialization. The air was thick with pollutants, and the waters were tainted by chemical runoff, impacting the ecosystem and surrounding areas.
Following the collapse, Moeras turned into a desolate and hazardous wasteland. The industrial infrastructure lies in ruins, emitting toxic fumes and green smog indicative of centuries of neglect and environmental abuse. The environmental degradation worsened post-collapse, rendering vast stretches of land uninhabitable. The remnants of industrial structures now stand as eerie reminders of a bygone era of rampant industrialization and environmental neglect.
Woestern
Woestern was once a sprawling urban center bustling with technological advancements, towering buildings, high-tech industries, and a network of interconnected cities. It was the epitome of technological progress, hosting research facilities, AI laboratories, and cutting-edge infrastructure. The cityscape showcased innovations in AI, renewable energy, advanced transportation systems, and interconnected smart cities. The population enjoyed the conveniences of high-tech living, automation, and seamless connectivity.
Post-collapse, Woestern lies in ruins, its once-thriving cities reduced to dilapidated structures, overgrown with vegetation. The remnants of advanced technology now lay scattered, malfunctioning, or dormant amidst the urban decay. The technological detonations and desturbances during the collapse left behind malfunctioning devices, AI remnants, and hazardous zones where technology continues to behave erratically. The cityscape, once a beacon of progress, is now a danger zone for the few daring souls who venture into its remains.
Shukumei
Shukumei is an enchanting realm that encompasses a wide expanse of territory and boasts various stunning landscapes. At its heart stands the revered willow, Yggdrasil, the source of life and magic for the realm. Its magical influence extends across the expansive forests of Shukumei. Protected by watchful dragons, with it's night skies illuminated by three celestial moons, this captivating realm contains a crystalline lake, expansive grasslands, and many mystical sites and mysterious depths.
